Success Story

Channa Dy is an 18 years old ex-beneficiary who joined BSDA’s program in 2021. She is from Roang Commune, Kampong Siem District, Kampong Cham Province. Only child in a very poor family, she was studying at Preah Sihanouk High school when she heard about the Scholarship at Apsara Centre from the Mekong Kampuchea Kids (MKK) project.Channa Dy began receiving a scholarship from BSDA in 2021.  BSDA teachers kept encouraging her to continue her studies until Grade 12. The scholarship provided groceries and rice for her and her family every month allowing her to focus on her studies. In 2024, thanks to a scholarship from the “CBF Program” in Australia, Channa Dy had the opportunity to study management at a Cambodian university in Kampong Cham. During her first year at university, she started volunteering with BSDA as a Project Assistant for the Mekong Kampuchea Kids project. This kept her busy and helped her to see positive changes in her situation, increasing her confidence.

After volunteering for the Mekong Kampuchea Kids Project for a month, Channa Dy had the opportunity to become a full-time staff member at BSDA as a social media officer. As a student who enjoys researching new things on the internet and exploring websites, she was chosen to work with BSDA to enhance her experience. Now, Channa Dy gets a $100 salary per months, which helps her support herself and contributes to her family's expenses.

TVET Student

Hailing from a poor family, Seun Channy spent six years working as a cashier after Grade 12 to support his siblings. University was impossible.   Identified by his supervisor and BSDA’s MKK project, he received a free scholarship at Smile School for vocational training.   Channy excelled in the Hospitality program, quickly mastering cooking skills. This led to a key internship at the prestigious LBN Hotel. He was quickly promoted to a full-time cook with a good salary.   He now plans to open his own food shop within a few years.

"Thanks to Ecosolidar and BSDA, this TVET program gave us the life of hope and a smile."

Yoeun Kimhorng is a 9-year-old from a struggling family who desperately wanted an education. The BSDA MKK Project saw her motivation and provided a life-changing opportunity: a scholarship focusing on education, life skills, and Cambodian Traditional Dance.

Since May 2024,  Kimhorng  has been thriving. Performing the Welcome, Alphabet, and Blessing Dances, she now uses her skills to perform at events, easing her family's financial strain. Her confidence has soared, and she recently ranked third in her class.

Thanks to the generous donors, Yoeun Kimhorng is a testament to how support transforms potential into reality—giving her and her family hope for a better future.

Happy Happy center student

Sol Pisey, an 11-year-old from Kampong Cham, faced a significant hurdle: regular school attendance was a luxury her large, vulnerable family—supported by her egg-selling single father—could not always afford. Recognizing her fierce motivation, teachers at the Happy Happy Center intervened. With the backing of the Mekong Kampuchea Kids (MKK) Project through BSDA, Sol Pisey secured her spot in the program in November 2024.   Since joining the Center, Sol Pisey has been thriving in Grade 5. She is a dedicated and respectful student who now attends school regularly, receiving not only education but crucial life skills and daily encouragement. This simple consistency has become a major source of pride and stability for her entire family, improving their situation significantly.   The support from MKK and the Happy Happy Center proves that sometimes all a bright student needs is a chance. As Sol Pisey shares, she sends her sincere thanks to the donors, whose generosity has given her the opportunity to pursue a brighter future.
