The Smile Restaurant (SR) is a training restaurant run by Buddhism for Social Development Action Organization (BSDA), a local NGO that aims to support the most in-need members of society through training, education, health, and social awareness programs. Smile Restaurant serves not only as a catering establishment but also as an internship opportunity for young people from disadvantaged families. Additionally, all staff working at Smile Restaurant are orphans or come from disadvantaged backgrounds. They are enrolled in BSDA's Mekong Kampuchea Kids (MKK) program, a residential course that provides them with education, vocational training, and general life skills. After a year of classroom-based training, the students begin working at Smile Restaurant. While working there, they gain invaluable experience in a professional restaurant setting, fitting them with the skills needed to ensure a successful career after graduation.
